The fifties from Navneet Dhaliwal (61 off 44 balls) and Nicholas Kirton (51 off 31 balls) helped Canada sustain the momentum, and then a 16-ball 32 cameo from Shreyas Movva at the end helped them post a challenging total on the board. Movva collected 21 runs from the last over to provide the much-needed impetus to Canada’s innings.
Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh and Corey Anderson picked up a wicket each for the United States of America. USA’s highest successful chase in T20Is was 169 and they will need to create history if they want to own the opening night of this edition of the mega event. Canada’s 194/5 is now the highest total by an associate team at the men’s T20 World Cup, surpassing 193/4 by Netherlands vs Ireland in 2014.
